This Psalm is quite fascinating because I can divide it into 3 COMMANDS:
1. A COMMAND TO THE SOUL PRAISE GOD (Ps 146: 1-2). Sometimes I think my soul is a 'lazy' person inside me. I have to command and to give 'orders' to it to praise the Lord!
2. A COMMAND TO THE SOUL NOT TO HOPE IN MAN (Ps 146: 3-4) So easy it is for us to look to man for help. So full of heartache for us to be let down by the very people we think can help us.
Just see how many people will give you money when you are in need of money. The most they will say is I will pray for you and wish you well.
The chunk of my mother's allowance comes from the 3 of us sisters. The older a person gets the more their expenses seem to be - diapers, medication, day help, hospital check-ups, nutrition food. No matter how much I talk, I plead, I write - the result is always the same. No help from the other siblings because they have financial problems of their own. Sometimes I think if no one in the family will extend financial help to my mother will she be out in the streets or in an old folks home?
3. A COMMAND TO THE SOUL TO HOPE IN GOD ALONE (Ps 146: 5-10)
This is my greatest comfort.
