The word "happy" is also translated "blessed".
This verse has a very deep meaning for me.
How can I be truly happy? Is it in the money I have for my retirement? Is it in the fact that I have traveled to many countries? Is it because I am successful in my work?
My happiness can only be in one thing and that is the fact that I can depend on God for His help in everything.
One thing I realized, men can say a lot of things, promise a lot of things, assure you of a lot things.....but they can still disappoint you. A good friend's husband promised a lot of things to her in order to get her to come back to his side after a bout of unfaithfulness but only to renegade on all his sweet promises!
Men cannot truly provide the blessedness and happiness that we desire. Our true blessedness lies in knowing that we have one source of help - the God of heaven and earth! Actually it is not even in the results of the reliance we place in God but just the mere thought of having God being there for us.
How awesome, how blessed, how happy I am!
Not only is God our source of help, He is also our source of hope!
When things are tough, I have a blessed hope - the hope that God is always on my side, looking out for me!
